Open Question: What can I do for a thoughtful guy I’ve been dating?

Monday, August 4th, 2008

I’ve been dating this guy for several months and I want to do something special for him. He is always looking out for everyone else, but no one seems to ever look out for him. I just want him to know that no matter what I care. We plan on going out to eat for restaurant week (which is good b/c he loves food!) and we have a hotel room for that night. Any other ideas on what I can do? I don’t want to just buy him a gift and call it a day. I want something meaningful and thoughtful or something I could do for him.
his other likes: designing houses, watches, food, traveling. He’s very adventurous, open-minded.

She has a thousand poster and is going to a concert already so is there any unique gift ideas? Open Question: How do I solve this wedding gift dilemma?

Monday, August 4th, 2008

I was a guest to a wedding with my boyfriend awhile ago; his sister was getting married. His family was not very happy, though, because another family (his aunt/uncle, and their children and guests) apparently gave “very small” presents. Now his cousin, of that same family, is getting married. I was told that my boyfriend’s mother wants all of us (meaning her and her husband, my boyfriend and I, and his siblings and their guests) would be going in on an $80 gift, because that’s fair, since that is what all their gifts added up to when they were at his sister’s wedding.
I think this is tacky, considering we all got separate invitations, and would like my boyfriend and I to bring our own gift. He is very adament that we not spend any more money on this family because the gifts need to be “even.” I am tempted to just send a gift to them with both of our names on it, or even just my name, so I’m not contributing to a gift that has essentially four sets of adults contributing to it. It would be different if all the siblings were kids, but they are all adults, and therefore I think should be providing their own gifts.
What should I do?! Do i go along with this idea even though I think it’s cheap and tacky and petty? Or do I get a separate gift and risk my boyfriend’s parents and siblings being upset with me for doing that?
I should clarify - we’re not all going in on this in order to buy them something more expensive off the registry. if that were the case, great! The mom had already bought this gift awhile ago and it was going to be solely from the mom and dad. However, after they got the gifts from the daughter’s wedding, they decided that that gift was too expensive for just the two of them to give based on what they received from that family, and that’s why everyone’s name is going on it now.

Open Question: I need some cute 1 year anniversary gift ideas for my boyfriend

Monday, August 4th, 2008

Me and my boyfriend will be celebrating our 1 year anniversary soon and I want to find the perfect thing. We live in different states and may not be with eachother on our special day. Does anyone have any cute ideas that he will like that I can send easily in the mail?

Open Question: I need to buy a gift for my best friend’s birthday!

Monday, August 4th, 2008

She really likes scottie dogs so I was thinking maybe a cute shirt with scottie dogs on it but I can’t find one. I was wondering if anyone knows of a store that sells a cute scottie dog shirt. Or if you have any other ideas, let me know!

Open Question: Poll for the guys- is a photo album a good gift for his birthday?

Monday, August 4th, 2008

My boyfriend and I have been dating awhile but things have just gotten serious with the ‘i love yous’ and such. It’s his birthday next week and I got him a photo album. I’m going to print off the few digital pictures of us and things we’ve done together that I have, with the idea that we can add more photos to it later. You know, as our relationship grows and all that :P Something sweet and a way of having tangible memories…

But I also got him a DVD that he wants, a flexible tripod for his new camera, and a quirky hilarious little stuffed animal cause he likes random odd things like that.

So what do you think- is the photo album TOO cheesy?

He insists that he doesn’t want anything material, and all he wants is me for his birthday, which he is getting (it’s a long distance relationship).

So? Good idea? Bad idea? Would you guys be touched if a girlfriend did that for you?

* Preferably guys only answer this one please! And say something more than yes or no. Back it up! Explain! Points for best answer! :)
